My guilty pleasure: Lynley

As a teenager, I loved spending Saturday evenings by watching a British murder mystery.

I always enjoyed the slow pace and rich atmosphere of these series. One of my favorite mysteries was ‘Inspector Lynley’.

Little did I know that the books are even more fun. My current guilty pleasure? Reading every single one of Elizabeth George‘s Lynley books.

What I like about them so much? They’re slow and yet there’s so much suspense. The dialogues are superb. The plots are unpredictable and credible.

If you’ve never read a Lynley novel before, I highly recommend to start at the beginning: A Great Deliverance.

I just finished it (I didn’t start at the beginning…) and was so impressed. It had me on the edge of my seat and brought me to tears.

There’s a great deal available on the first 4 books if you read on a digital device. Since I couldn’t find the older books in print easily, I bought this.

Listening to these books as an audiobook with a great narrator should also be a real treat, but I haven’t gotten around to that.
